21 May 2019: Recruitment Opportunity – Senior Quantity Surveyor in the Office of Government Procurement

The Office of Government Procurement leads the Public Procurement Reform Programme by integrating procurement policy, strategies and operations in one office, strengthening spend analysis and data management and securing sustainable savings. Within the Office of Government Procurement, the Construction Procurement Policy Unit has responsibility for all policy aspects associated with the procurement of works contractors and construction related service providers.

A key output of the unit and the main policy implementation tool is the Capital Works Management Framework (CWMF) which includes the public works contracts, standard conditions of engagement for construction service providers, suitability assessment questionnaires, standard tender documents, cost planning templates and comprehensive guidance.

Reporting to the Senior Construction Adviser, the Senior Quantity Surveyor will be a key member of the Construction Procurement Policy team which will develop the next generation of the CWMF and deliver the Business as Usual (BAU) activities.

The successful candidate will have a minimum of 10 years- post qualification experience to include experience operating in the role of project Quantity Surveyor along with experience in work planning and the management of public works tendering procedures. S/he will have experience in the management of public works coupled with excellent I.T. skills and strong analytical and interpersonal skills.

Candidates must hold a qualification of at least Level 8 on the NFQ in Quantity Surveying, Construction Economics or an equivalent qualification and be entitled to admission as a full member of the SCSI (Quantity Surveying Division) and/or the RICS (Quantity Surveying Division).
