The Agreed Rules of Measurement version 5 (ARM 5) have been published by the ARM Joint Committee and are effective from 27 November 2024. ARM 5 provides updated measurement rules for building works including the incorporation of ARM 4 Supplements 1 and 2.
The rules of ARM 5 relate solely to how information is described and measured for inclusion in the Bill of Quantities / Pricing Document. The use of ARM 5 applies to building projects.
ARM 5 provides updated measurement rules reflective of the method of construction being undertaken in the construction sector and is compatible with Building Information Modelling.
Implementation:
From 27 November 2024, clients commencing a building project at Stage 1 of the Capital Works Management Framework (CWMF) may use ARM 5 in the preparation of Bills of Quantities / Pricing documents.
From 1 January 2025, building projects commencing at stage 1 of the CWMF must use ARM 5 in the preparation of Bills of Quantities / Pricing documents.
